business internet consultantPHILIPPINE business can use the internet to compete. With the coming of globalization, other businesses from China, India, Russia, etc. are using the Internet as a tool to market their business online.

With the Internet, businesses in the Philippines can market globally. By using yahoo or google, foreigners interested in your products or services can find your website and do business with you.

Without the website, what is your other marketing or advertising alternative to reach your target customers overseas? You can try advertising in their local newspapers, or put ads in broadcast media, but it will be expensive and difficult to coordinate.

At the moment the website is still the cheapest method for advertising a business overseas, but it is getting to be more and more expensive.

Philippine companies must therefore take full advantage of the Internet as a cheap marketing medium, while it is still cheap.

To get started, it is important to get the company website up ASAP. Do not worry about the looks yet, just put a website that is friendly to the search engines. Search engines send spiders (software that browse for websites, and index the contents or words on the site). The content of your site is put in a database, and when a user searches for a particular word, the database is searched, and websites that closely match the keyword will be returned to the user.

It may take 2 months for a spider to visit and index your site. Therefore, put up a basic site that contains relevant information, then submit to search sites for indexing. During the 2 months wait, fine tune the site (visual and content).

THE critical part to the success of websites is a design that will attract targeted customers. And 80% of your customers will try to find you via a search engine. With millions of websites, your site must rank high.

For example, I am in the internet marketing business. If I do a search for the key phrase "internet marketing philippines," Google returns 287,000 web sites. Now if my website is not in the top 20 then my chances of being found are next to none.

As of January 6, 2003, my website is in the top 10 position for the words internet marketing philippines.

This process is called Search Engine Optimization (SEO). I personally use a software called WebPosition Gold to help optimize my pages to rank high in search engines.

Sincerely,
